The Move

29 july 2010

Moving day came and went like a band aid off a healed wound. My brother, Chris and I worked like machines for the day and got it all done in two van loads. The second van was met by Dad who quickly motivated our tiring and aching bodies, to get the last bit done quickly, in order to get the van back on time. Thankfully my brother didn’t mind missing his train to help us and we were able to get him on a flight out the next morning to make up for the delay.

So now we’re in, and in love with home. I have some modern luxuries which I’ve never really had before: dishwasher, dryer, pool, spa... and a balcony which has mojito and U2 video re-enactment evenings (we live under the flight path) written all over it. Elliot and JD (The bikes) don’t have a space on the rack in the basement, but they have found a nice spot in the apartment. We’ve already embarked on some of the local bike routes, including a hairy ride to the gym last week which was a lot of fun! I noticed a few bike route symbols and signs, so when I get back (yep i’m taking a well earned break!) I plan to check out the local area, and of course will report back.

So all in all, i’m not really missing Erskineville, i’m enjoying a bit of a road trip knowing that when I get home a warm apartment awaits our arrival.

Freelance Piece

01 july 2010

The last few weeks I've been freelancing, which has been great. So I thought I'd share a piece I've been working on while I look at getting my online portfolio together.

- Wedding 'Save the date' design. Used for email send out.

I like this. Especially the way the "T" from "Thousand" and the "T" from "Two" are joined by the "&". And also the weathered look of the background.

Look, Find, Move and Evolve

01 july 2010

They say a change is as good as a holiday, and part of me really wants to believe it, but to be honest I want a holiday as well!
We are about to move (at long last) and although it's been a little stressful trying to find somewhere I'm really looking forward to it, especially:
1. Discovering of new cycle paths and parks
2. Finding new Cafes and little shops
3. Taking more photos!! I've been slack recently
4. Making new friends and...
5. Sitting back (on the balcony), to a freshly unpacked place, firing up the laptop and giving this site the love it deserves.

So keep checking back, as I move next week and will post more soon.

On the Elliot front, she has been proudly getting me to and from house viewings and helping me with the shopping.
